What started over a picnic meal after a young clergy women preaching conference ended with Feast: Festival of Word, Table, and Image. A seed was planted in two women and grew into an event attended by over 50 men and women.

Those who attended Feast gathered together with high expectations. We attended the event as an opportunity to nurture our creative, caring, spiritual selves. We were not disappointed. From a beautifully prepared meal to the feast of sermons and voices in worship and the liturgical art & art gallery, we were fed well.

Our appreciation goes to each one who attended the event as well as those who carefully constructed each element of the festival. With laughter and table fellowship, there’s no question that the time together was a day well spent. In order to share the tastes of the day, VBWIM will present a Feast Issue of Synergy later in 2009.

We anticipate future gatherings to be equally delightful. Do come and join the fellowship among Virginia Baptist Women in Ministry.

Image-Eli Withers
Eli Withers attended the Festival of Word, Table, and Image and spoke of her experience of the event: “Everything was so refreshing and enjoyable.  I have wanted to become involved with VBWIM for so long, that evening reminded me why and I am sure will encourage me to continue to be involved.  The art was an amazing piece to the whole evening.  It is wonderful to experience one's faith in so many different ways.” When asked about her expectations for the event, Eli commented, “I wasn't exactly sure what to expect.  But it was what I needed.  I have very much missed my seminary community since I graduated in 2001.  This event reminded me that there is still a community where I can be nurtured and fed and challenged...
where I can worship more freely.”
